Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Ambitious Double Deal

Tottenham are deep in negotiations with Manchester City over a bold double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, as Roberto De Zerbi turns his rebuild towards the top end of the pitch.

Talks between the clubs are progressing, according to sources, though no agreement is in place yet. The numbers, and how far Spurs are willing – or able – to go, will decide whether this turns into one of the defining deals of their summer.

Savinho: from stalled project to prime target

Spurs’ pursuit of Savinho is not new. Their interest stretches back to 2025, when the Brazilian winger chose to stay and fight for his place at Etihad Stadium rather than push for a move.

That gamble never really paid off. Last season he managed just seven Premier League starts, a modest return for a player City signed from Troyes in 2024 for £30m and once viewed as a long-term attacking weapon.

Now, at 22, with his pathway blocked and minutes scarce, Savinho is open to leaving. For Tottenham, that combination – untapped upside, frustration at his role, and a club ready to cash in – is exactly the sort of market opening they have been waiting for.

Marmoush on the move after falling out of favour

Marmoush’s situation is different, but the outcome may be the same. Signed from Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, the 27-year-old never fully convinced Pep Guardiola across the 2025-26 campaign.

He slipped down the pecking order, yet still produced a respectable return: eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. Those numbers hint at a forward who can contribute, even when not fully trusted.

City’s precise valuation for the pair has not been revealed, but the expectation is clear: the Premier League champions want a significant profit on both Savinho and Marmoush. Any double deal will not come cheap.

De Zerbi turns to the attack

De Zerbi has already ripped up and rebuilt his midfield this summer. Mateus Fernandes arrived from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, the pair costing a combined £185m.

The message from the Italian, though, has been consistent: the attack must be upgraded next.

Last season’s 17th-placed finish in the Premier League, with just 48 goals in 38 games, underlined the problem. Spurs were too blunt, too often. De Zerbi wants more pace, more incision, more goals. Savinho’s direct wing play and Marmoush’s versatility across the front line fit that brief.

The Gakpo question

Cody Gakpo remains on Tottenham’s radar as well. The Liverpool forward is admired, and the interest has not gone away.

The reality of the market bites here. It is unclear whether Spurs can realistically finance a move for the Netherlands international on top of potential deals for both Marmoush and Savinho. One marquee forward might be manageable. Three starts to look like fantasy unless sales or creative structures change the picture.

City’s summer churn continues

City, meanwhile, are in the middle of another significant reshaping of their squad. The champions have already moved on several big names this summer, including captain Rodri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford.

Letting Savinho and Marmoush go would be another step in that evolution – and a major test of Tottenham’s ambition. If De Zerbi gets his forwards, Spurs’ attack will look nothing like the one that limped through last season. The only question now is how far they are prepared to go to make it happen.
