Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Sport-News.ca (“we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of sport-news.ca (the “Site”) and any content, features, or services offered on or through it (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy (together, the “Policies”), which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of majority in your province/territory, you represent that you have parental/guardian consent.

2) Editorial Focus; No Professional Advice

We publish football (soccer) news, commentary, analysis, and predictions for a Canadian audience. Content is for informational and entertainment purposes only and does not constitute legal, financial, wagering, or other professional advice. Predictions reflect opinion and analysis only and do not guarantee outcomes. Decisions you make based on our content are at your own risk. 

3) Ownership of Content; Limited License

All content on the Services—including articles, headlines, images, graphics, logos, and design—is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the content for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You may share links to our public pages with proper attribution.
You may not, without prior written consent: copy or republish at scale; aggregate, archive, mirror, scrape, crawl, or text-/data-mine our content (including for training datasets or AI models); frame our pages; or use our trademarks, logos, or branding.

4) Accounts and Interactive Features

We do not currently offer user accounts or commenting. If and when such features become available, your use of them will be subject to these Terms (including Section 5) as updated at that time.

5) User Submissions (if enabled in the future)

If the Services later allow user submissions (“Submissions”), you will retain ownership of your Submissions but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify, publish, and display them solely in connection with operating, promoting, and improving the Services. You must not submit anything unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise objectionable. We may moderate or remove Submissions at our discretion.

6) Third-Party Links, Ads, and Affiliates

The Services may link to third-party sites, tools, or services, including advertisers and affiliate partners. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your dealings with third parties are solely between you and them and may be governed by their terms and privacy policies. We may receive compensation via affiliate links or advertising; this does not determine our editorial coverage or opinions.

7) Privacy and Cookies

Your use of the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we collect, use, and share information and how we use cookies and similar technologies. Where processing requires consent under applicable law, such consent will be obtained separately.

8) Copyright Complaints / Notice Procedure

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe material on the Services infringes your copyright, please send a notice including:

• a description of the copyrighted work;
• the URL/location of the allegedly infringing material;
• your name and contact information;
• a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and
• a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act,

Upon receipt of a compliant notice, we may remove or restrict access to the material and take other appropriate steps under applicable Canadian law.

9) Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to: violate any law or regulation; attempt unauthorized access to any systems or data; interfere with or disrupt the Services (e.g., overloading, DDoS, automated scraping/crawling beyond normal search indexing); distribute malware or spam; or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

10) Disclaimers

THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, or availability of the content, and match outcomes are inherently uncertain.

11) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRIBUTORS, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the Services will not exceed CAD $100 or the amount you paid us (if any) in the 3 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater. Some provinces/territories do not allow certain limitations; in such cases, the limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Services or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13) Changes

We may update or modify the Services or these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and adjust the “Last updated” date. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Where changes require consent under applicable law, we will seek such consent separately

14) Suspension/Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, where permitted by law, including if we believe you have violated these Terms.

15) Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.

16) Severability; Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

17) Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements.
