Tottenham Negotiates Double Transfer for Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur are in negotiations with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with both clubs locked in talks but still short of an agreement.

The discussions, confirmed to BBC Sport by sources close to the deal, centre on two players who arrived at City for big money but never fully settled into Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Two Forwards, Two Reset Buttons

Savinho, 22, has been on Spurs’ radar since 2025. The Brazilian winger cost City £30m in 2024 but managed only seven Premier League starts last season. For a player once billed as a long-term wide option at the Etihad, his campaign never truly ignited, and he is now pushing for a move to relaunch his career.

On the other flank of this proposed deal sits Omar Marmoush. The 27-year-old Egyptian forward joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, yet slipped down the pecking order in the 2025-26 season. He finished the campaign with eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions – respectable, but not enough to cement his place under Guardiola.

City’s exact asking price for the pair remains unclear, but the club is understood to be targeting a significant profit on both, reflecting their age profiles and the remaining years on their contracts.

De Zerbi’s Attack Rebuild

For Roberto de Zerbi, the equation is simple: Spurs need goals.

Tottenham finished 17th last season and scored just 48 league goals. That return has forced a ruthless rethink of the attacking unit, even after a heavy outlay in midfield. De Zerbi has already overseen £185m worth of spending this summer on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, reshaping the spine of the side.

Now the focus turns to the front line. Savinho offers pace and width. Marmoush brings versatility across the front three and a direct threat in behind. Together, they represent a clear attempt to inject speed, unpredictability and cutting edge into a team that too often looked blunt.

Balancing the Books and the Options

Tottenham’s recruitment team are also keeping an eye on Cody Gakpo at Liverpool. The Dutch forward remains a live option, but the financial reality is stark: it is uncertain whether Spurs can realistically complete a deal for Gakpo as well as fund moves for both Savinho and Marmoush.

Any agreement with City will have to sit within a summer budget already stretched by major midfield investment. That tension between ambition and affordability will define how far these talks go.

City’s Summer Shuffle

For Manchester City, this is part of a broader reset. The champions have already moved on several key names in this window, including Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and James Trafford, reshaping a squad that has been relentlessly successful but is now being refreshed in multiple areas.

Letting Savinho and Marmoush go would continue that trend: trimming attacking depth to create space – and cash – for the next evolution under Guardiola.

Tottenham travel to Brentford on Saturday to open their Premier League campaign. City host Bournemouth on Sunday.

By then, both clubs will know whether this double deal is edging towards reality or drifting back into the realm of what might have been.
