Tottenham’s Goal Drought Continues After Everton Draw

Tottenham’s wait for a Premier League goal – and a win – drags on. A flat, goalless draw with Everton at home did little to shift the mood, the tension in the stands rising every time another attack fizzled out.

Here’s how Spurs’ players measured up on a frustrating afternoon in north London.

Antonin Kinsky – 6

Produced a sharp stop to push away James Garner’s free-kick and at least kept the clean sheet intact. Nearly undid that good work with a disastrous pass straight to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but recovered with another save to spare himself and Spurs. A mixed, nervy league outing.

Archie Gray – 7

One of the few who injected any real energy. Drove forward from defence with purpose, stepping into midfield to try and break Everton’s lines. Showed courage on the ball and gave Spurs an extra dimension going the other way.

Jan Paul van Hecke – 6

Might have opened the scoring with an early chance at the far post but failed to make it count. Beyond that moment, stayed calm, read the game well and handled what little Everton offered in attack.

Micky van de Ven – 6

Barely stretched. Everton rarely threatened his side and he dealt with what came his way without fuss. Solid, but largely untested.

Andrew Robertson – 7

Did his primary job first: kept Brennan Johnson quiet. Then did what he does best, thundering up the left with those familiar surging runs to support the attack. Offered width, intent and a bit of bite in a game that badly needed it.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

The glue in midfield. Kept things tidy, always available for a pass, and rarely looked rushed. Helped Spurs control possession but couldn’t quite provide the killer pass to unlock Everton.

Sandro Tonali – 6

Flashes of quality, the odd classy touch and switch of play. But for a £100m midfielder, this still feels like the warm-up act. Neat and competent without ever grabbing the game by the throat.

Savio – 7

Bright early on and one of the liveliest attacking outlets. His work on the right hinted at genuine promise, with direct running and a willingness to take on his man. The spark dimmed as the minutes ticked by and the tempo dropped.

Mateus Fernandes – 5

Too quiet for too long. When he finally pulled the trigger, the shot drew ironic applause – less for the effort itself and more out of relief that Spurs had actually had a go. Needs to demand the ball and the moment far more.

Omar Marmoush – 5

Plenty of running, plenty of pressing, not enough end product. Worked hard, chased lost causes, but never really imposed himself in dangerous areas.

Dominic Solanke – 4

First Premier League start of the season and it showed. Rusty, short of sharpness, and rarely in the right place at the right time. A tough, disjointed outing that underlined how far off rhythm he still is.

Substitutes

• Mohammed Kudus (on 63, Fernandes) – 4 Introduced to lift the attack but never found a way into the rhythm of the game. Drifts of quality, nothing sustained.
• Lucas Bergvall (on 63, Bentancur) – 6 Brought urgency and a bit of edge. Delivered one dangerous cross and came closest to snatching the win with a late effort. At least tried to change the script.
• Mathys Tel (on 63, Solanke) – 5 Offered a couple of tricky runs and some fresh legs out wide. Threatened in moments without truly unsettling Everton.
• James Maddison (on 77, Marmoush) Too little time to leave a mark, despite his best attempts to speed things up around the box.
• Tosin Adarabioyo (on 85, Gray) A late cameo to shore things up, with no chance to influence the contest.

Subs not used: Dubravka, Davies, Gallagher, Senesi.
