“He’s at Kaizer Chiefs, and yeah, they fought to have him there, and he wanted to be there, so he forsake all other deals to take that,” Mathang-Tshabuse told iDiski Times, lifting the lid on just how firm his stance was. The international option, she confirmed, never aligned with his reality off the pitch or with the kind of long-term growth he needed at this stage of his career.
“There was one international deal, but it didn’t work for the family in a similar jurisdiction to where Mohau Nkota is. But also, to be fair, it was not advancing in the way that we wanted it to advance.”
The message was clear: he wasn’t chasing a stamp in his passport. He was chasing the right fit.

“Yeah, I think happiness is relative,” Mathang-Tshabuse said when asked about his adjustment. “Every new opportunity brings its own challenges, and I think he’s aware of that. You know, he’s alive to the fact that this is an established team.
“You know, it has a captain who has led the team for a while, and so he has to adapt to the Kaizer Chiefs' style of play, but man, that guy is mature, and he signed up for it.”
