Rafael Leao Responds to Claims of Being a Negative Influence

Rafael Leao doesn’t often speak on X. When he does, it tends to land.

This time, the Milan forward broke his silence to directly deny a report suggesting new coach Ruben Amorim considers him a “negative influence” in the dressing room. His answer was blunt, and public.

“You are lying,” Leao wrote in response to a post repeating claims first published by La Gazzetta dello Sport. In a follow-up reply, he added: “Maybe because you are lying,” finishing it off with three laughing-face emojis to underline the contempt.

The report had stated that Amorim views the Portugal international as a disruptive presence inside the Milan squad and is worried about the winger’s impact on the team’s atmosphere. Leao chose not to let that narrative run unchecked, stepping in himself rather than leaving it to agents or club statements.

Away from the online row, Leao is missing today’s friendly against Manchester United. That absence has nothing to do with disciplinary issues, though; a minor injury has ruled him out of the game.

His future, however, remains wide open.

All summer, Milan and Leao’s camp have been open to a sale. The market, so far, has not met their expectations. Offers have arrived from Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but each proposal has fallen well short of Milan’s initial valuation.

The Rossoneri started the window looking for 50 million euros plus 10 million in add-ons. No one has come close. The stance is softening.

Milan are now prepared to consider letting Leao leave for around 40 million euros, a significant drop from their original demands and a clear signal to any club still hesitating.

The question is simple: with the price falling and the noise rising, who moves first?
