QPR Striker Richard Kone Faces Injury Setback

QPR face fresh concern over striker Richard Kone after the club’s leading scorer from last season limped off less than half an hour into a development squad match on Monday.

The 23-year-old was making his latest step back from the injury he suffered against Middlesbrough on 5 September, lining up for QPR’s youngsters against Bolton’s Under-21s. It was meant to be a gentle route back towards the first team.

Instead, it brought another setback.

Kone went down after a strong challenge and, despite attempts to carry on, was forced off before the half-hour mark. He left the field visibly struggling as QPR’s development side went on to lose 3-1 to Bolton’s youngsters.

The forward has endured a frustrating campaign so far. After finishing last season as QPR’s top scorer, he has managed only four first-team appearances this term and is still waiting for his first goal.

The exact nature of his latest problem has not yet been confirmed, leaving QPR waiting for clarity on the fitness of a player they badly need firing again.
