Napoli Faces Fresh Injury Blow as Spinazzola Ruled Out for Fiorentina Trip
Napoli’s growing injury list has claimed another key name. Leonardo Spinazzola will not travel to Florence for Sunday’s lunchtime clash with Fiorentina after suffering a mild strain in the hamstring of his right thigh.
The club confirmed on Friday that the full-back did not train with the rest of the squad, with medical checks revealing the muscular problem. Several Italian outlets, including Il Mattino and Sky, report that the issue is enough to sideline the Italy international for the match at the Stadio Franchi, scheduled for 12:30 CET (11:30 BST).
For Napoli, it’s another setback in a season already marked by physical problems and absences. Spinazzola’s experience and versatility down the left flank had become a useful weapon, and his absence strips the Partenopei of another senior option in a key area of the pitch.
The bad news does not end there.
Napoli also announced that Frank Zambo Anguissa continued to work away from the main group, training separately as he battles his own fitness concerns. With the midfielder still not reintegrated into full sessions, his chances of featuring against Fiorentina are slim.
Injury List
The list of absentees for the trip to Tuscany is long and worrying: Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci, Scott McTominay, Giovane, Alex Meret and Alisson Santos are all ruled out, leaving the squad stretched across several departments.
It comes at a delicate moment. Napoli finally stopped the rot last weekend, grinding out a 1-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Maradona after three consecutive defeats in all competitions. That narrow victory offered a hint of stability, a foothold to build on.
Now they head to Florence with momentum flickering back to life, but with bodies dropping again. The question is simple and stark: can this patched‑up Napoli side keep their revival going in one of Serie A’s toughest away grounds?
