Manchester United roll into this afternoon’s derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford knowing exactly what’s at stake: win, and their Premier League season suddenly has lift-off.
Michael Carrick has not ripped things up, but he has clearly sharpened them. After Thursday night’s 4-0 cruise past Sabah in the Champions League, he brings back some of his big guns while keeping faith with the spine that dismantled the Azerbaijani side.
