Kylian Mbappé Dominates La Liga Start with Two Goals Against Elche

Kylian Mbappé’s start to life in La Liga shows no sign of slowing. On Tuesday night at Elche, he again carried Real Madrid’s cutting edge, scoring and scaring the life out of his own fans in the space of a few frantic minutes in the sixth round of the league season.

The breakthrough moment came on 33 minutes. Yan Diomande split Elche open with a superb, incisive pass, and Mbappé needed just one touch. One swing of his right foot, and the ball was in the net, Madrid two goals to the good, and the away end roaring his name.

The pressure almost brought a second goal for him. A few minutes after his return, Mbappé found the net once more, only to see the effort ruled out for offside. The finish was crisp, the movement sharp. The flag was the only thing that beat him.

His earlier strike still carried major significance. That goal lifted Mbappé to the top of the La Liga scoring charts with 7 goals, one ahead of Barcelona duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
