Jersey Bulls Goalkeeper Pierce Roche Out for Three Months
Jersey Bulls have been dealt an early-season blow with goalkeeper Pierce Roche ruled out for around three months after breaking his collarbone in their FA Trophy penalty shootout defeat.
Roche suffered the injury during the shootout against Hayes and Yeading United, landing awkwardly as he dived in vain to keep out the hosts’ third spot-kick from Ross Derham.
He tried to battle through it. Clearly in pain, Roche stayed on for the remaining penalties, but could do nothing as Brendan Matthew stepped up to bury the winning kick and seal a 4-1 shootout victory after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
The setback comes just as Roche had nailed down the gloves. He has started both of Jersey Bulls’ matches so far this season, adding to the 11 appearances he made for the island side in the 2025-26 campaign.
Attention now turns quickly to how Bulls cope without their first-choice keeper. They are back in action on Tuesday evening, away to Moneyfields in the Isthmian League South Central, with a reshuffled back line already facing an early test of its resolve.
