Ipswich Town's Resilience After Liverpool Defeat

Issa Diop praised Ipswich Town’s resolve after they were rocked by two early goals in Friday’s 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool at Portman Road.

Alexander Isak struck twice inside the opening 10 minutes, leaving Ipswich staring at a long night against one of the division’s heavyweights. The game looked in danger of running away from them before it had even settled.

Ipswich did not collapse.

Diop's Reaction

Diop, speaking after the match, highlighted the way the side rallied in the face of that early shock.

"It's even harder when it's again Liverpool and a top side like that," the defender told BBC Radio Suffolk. "The good thing is the response after conceding the second goal was good.

"We stuck together, we reacted well. We could have done better in different ways. You can always do better when you concede goals so we can work on it this week and we will be ready to face Crystal Palace [at Selhurst Park on Saturday].

"We have a good group with good coaching staff so I'm very happy here."

Ipswich now turn quickly towards that trip to Selhurst Park, carrying the sting of defeat but also a clear sense of what they want to put right.
