Fridolina Rolfö to Miss 2026/27 Season After Pregnancy Announcement
Fridolina Rolfö will miss the entire 2026/27 campaign for Manchester United after announcing she is pregnant, ruling out one of the WSL’s most adaptable forwards for the season ahead.
The Sweden international was absent from United’s opening-day defeat away to London City Lionesses last Friday. She has since shared the news with her teammates, confirming that her return to the pitch will not come this season.
For head coach Eva Olid, it is a significant loss. Rolfö’s ability to operate across the front line and in deeper creative roles has been central to United’s tactical flexibility. Now, Olid must plan for a year – and likely longer – without her.
The timeline is clear and unforgiving. Pregnancy and the recovery period that follows mean Rolfö is expected to miss not only 2026/27 but also at least the early stages of the 2027/28 season while she works back to full fitness and match sharpness.
United have been here before. Last season, winger Celin Bizet Dønnum announced her pregnancy after playing her final game in October 2025. She has yet to return to first-team action, a reminder of how long the road back can be at elite level.
One of Europe’s most accomplished forwards stepping away leaves a sizeable gap in United’s plans. The question now is how Olid reshapes her attack for a season that has barely begun.
