Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout year has been given elite recognition.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, a nod to a debut Premier League season that exploded into life on the south coast.

Kroupi, 20, is one of three Premier League names in a 10-player list, joined by Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi. Three different clubs, three different projects, but the same message: England’s top flight is churning out young stars at pace.

Kroupi only pulled on a Bournemouth shirt for the first time in August 2025. He wasted no time. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign he had racked up 35 appearances in all competitions and hit 13 goals, a return that turned heads far beyond the Vitality Stadium.

The numbers carried extra weight. No teenager had ever scored more goals in their debut Premier League season than Kroupi managed last term. In a league stacked with attacking talent, he didn’t just keep up. He set the standard for his age group.

This season has brought a harsh pause. A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him out of action so far. Bournemouth have had to plan without their young spearhead, while he works through rehab with an eye on a return in October or November.

His absence has not dulled the memory of what he did over those first 12 months in England. The Ballon d'Or panel has underlined that by placing his name among the next generation’s elite.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year prize will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October. By then, Kroupi could be on the brink of his comeback, carrying both an individual nomination and the weight of expectation that comes with it.
