Inter head to Sardinia with history – and momentum – on their side. Cagliari have not beaten the Nerazzurri in Serie A for 13 games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 20 meetings. Inter’s fast start against Monza was no one-off. They have scored first in each of their last nine Serie A meetings with Cagliari, and led at half-time in six of the last eight. They set the tone early and rarely let it slip.

Pisacane’s instinct is to organise, protect the box and frustrate. Cagliari may well drag Inter into a slower opening phase.
