Bayern Munich Win Overshadowed by Musiala's Collapse Against Leipzig

Bayern Munich’s 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig in Munich on Saturday ended with more concern than celebration, as Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer and Minjae Kim all failed to finish the match.

The afternoon had seemed routine enough. In sweltering temperatures, Bayern moved 3-1 ahead, Musiala capping his performance with a goal that underlined his usual sharpness. Then the mood inside the stadium flipped in an instant.

Only minutes after scoring, Musiala suddenly went down off the ball, collapsing to the turf with no contact from an opponent. Ismael Saibari reacted first, sprinting over and managing to catch the Germany international before he hit the ground. Joshua Kimmich rushed in as well, waving urgently for help.

Bayern’s medical team charged onto the pitch and a stretcher followed, raising the tension further as players and fans watched in near silence. The treatment took several minutes. Eventually, Musiala was able to stand and leave the field, supported by the team doctor, a sight that eased some of the immediate fears but did not remove the sense of alarm.

“The most important thing is that he’s doing well.”

After the match, board member for sport Max Eberl offered a brief update. An official diagnosis is still to come, but his message was clear.

The scare capped a difficult evening physically for Vincent Kompany’s side. Earlier in the game, Konrad Laimer had already limped out after a challenge, clutching his right thigh before receiving treatment and being substituted. Bayern are still awaiting a precise diagnosis on the midfielder.

Minjae Kim also did not complete the contest, adding another name to a growing list of concerns on a day that was supposed to be about fine-tuning and rhythm.

The result will disappear into pre-season records soon enough. What lingers for Bayern is a different question: how costly will this friendly prove once the real campaign begins?
