Tottenham Signs Martin Dubravka as Goalkeeper Market Heats Up
Tottenham have moved first in what is fast becoming a summer for goalkeepers, sealing the signing of Martin Dubravka on a free transfer.
The former Newcastle and Burnley No 1 will head to north London when his deal at Turf Moor expires at the end of the month, adding proven Premier League experience to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
For Dubravka, it is a reset at the sharp end of his career.
"It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family," he said. "I'm looking forward to it.
"Everything moved pretty quickly and I'm really happy to be here. I've loved watching Roberto's teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.
"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can't wait to meet everyone and get started."
The 35-year-old arrives as a seasoned operator, a goalkeeper who has seen relegation battles, European pushes and long stretches as a first-choice pick. Spurs, chasing depth and reliability behind their established starter, have opted for a calm head rather than a project.
United eye Darlow and Johnstone as reshuffle looms
While Tottenham have acted, Manchester United are still weighing up their options.
According to The Mirror, United are considering moves for Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone, with Michael Carrick keen to bring in another goalkeeper to back up Senne Lammens next season.
Carrick’s plan is clear: build a stable hierarchy in goal and avoid the chaos of recent campaigns. Darlow offers steady hands and experience, Johnstone a homegrown option who knows the league and the demands of a big club.
The knock-on effect could be significant. Radek Vitek, as flagged earlier in the window, is expected to assess his options, with all three newly promoted clubs believed to be interested in taking him. United’s choice of deputy will shape not just their own depth chart but the goalkeeping market lower down the table.
Everton test West Ham’s resolve over Bowen
At the other end of the pitch, Everton have made an ambitious move.
Football Insider report that the Merseyside club have contacted West Ham to explore a deal for Jarrod Bowen, the standout winger now facing life in the Championship after West Ham’s relegation.
Bowen, one of the few consistent bright sparks at the London Stadium, is understood to be in no rush to commit to a destination. He wants to weigh up offers, listen to different projects, and then decide his immediate future.
For Everton, fresh from another season of strain, Bowen would be a statement signing: goals, work-rate and Premier League pedigree rolled into one. For West Ham, it is a test of how aggressively they are prepared to cash in as they reshape a squad for the second tier.
Villa dig in over Rogers
If West Ham are braced for bids, Aston Villa have drawn a line in the sand.
According to Sky Sports, Villa have told Arsenal and every other suitor that Morgan Rogers is not for sale this summer.
Rogers has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, his versatility and creativity catching the eye of Mikel Arteta. Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest, sensing an opportunity to prise away one of the Premier League’s most intriguing young playmakers.
Villa’s stance is blunt. They see Rogers as central to their next step, not a chip to be cashed in. With European ambitions to protect, they are prepared to shut the door, even as some of Europe’s biggest clubs knock on it.
Forest line up Brazilian prospect Otavio
Nottingham Forest, always active and rarely quiet in a window, are turning to Brazil again.
Globo Esporte report that Cruzeiro goalkeeper Otavio has emerged as a serious target, with Forest readying a formal offer for the 20-year-old.
The proposed bid stands at around £11m. For a club that has already churned through a remarkable number of signings since promotion, this is another swing at long-term value: a young goalkeeper with room to grow, potentially groomed as a future No 1.
Whether £11m will satisfy Cruzeiro remains uncertain. The Brazilian side know European clubs rarely stop at a first offer when they believe in the upside.
United line up £35m move for Anton
Back at Old Trafford, the rebuild is not confined to the goalkeeping department.
German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten report that Manchester United are preparing a £35m bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton, with Michael Carrick having given the move his approval.
Anton, currently on duty with Germany at the World Cup and under contract at Dortmund until 2028, fits the profile United have started to chase: prime age, battle-tested at the highest level, comfortable in possession and in big-game environments.
Dortmund, tied to a long deal and under no pressure to sell, will not be easy negotiators. United, though, know exactly what they are buying if they can get him out of the Bundesliga.
From Dubravka’s fresh start at Tottenham to Anton’s potential arrival at Old Trafford, the market is beginning to move. The question now is who blinks first as the prices rise and the clock ticks down.
