Champions League 2026-27 Draw: Date and Process Explained

The draw for the Champions League league phase will be held at 17:00 BST on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in Monaco. A total of 36 teams qualified for this stage, divided into four pots based on their UEFA club coefficient rankings.

Starting with pot one, each team is drawn individually. Then, UEFA's automated software picks eight opponents for each team. This includes playing two matches against teams from each pot—one home and one away.

Pot One Teams: Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.

Teams from England cannot face each other in the league phase. No fixtures are allowed between teams from the same country, and no team can play more than two matches against clubs from another country during this phase.

This process repeats until all fixtures for the 36 teams are set.

Europa League Draw Information

The Europa League draw follows the Champions League draw, starting at 12:00 BST on Friday, 28 August 2026. Like the Champions League, 36 teams are split into four pots. Each team receives eight fixtures determined by the same criteria used in the Champions League draw.

The Europa League and Conference League draws take place together in a single ceremony. Instead of traditional physical balls, the draws use a fully digital system to ensure a quick and smooth procedure.

Conference League Draw Setup

The Conference League draw happens right after the Europa League draw during the same event. This competition’s league phase differs by having only six rounds of fixtures instead of eight.

The 36 participating clubs are arranged into six pots of six teams each. Every team is drawn against one team from each pot, creating their schedule.
