Tottenham Advances in Marmoush Talks as Savinho Deal Finalizes
Tottenham’s rebuild under Roberto de Zerbi is accelerating – and it is not stopping with Savinho.
Having already thrown a combined £185m at reshaping the midfield with Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, Spurs are now driving hard to upgrade their forward line. The next target is clear.
Talks over a move for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush are described as “progressing positively”, with Tottenham working on a deal that would follow hot on the heels of their agreement for Savinho.
Marmoush, a £59m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025, slipped down the attacking hierarchy at City last season and now looks increasingly likely to be moved on. The Egypt international has struggled for consistent minutes under Pep Guardiola, and Spurs sense an opportunity.
De Zerbi wants more firepower and greater variety across his front line. Savinho, 22, is close to becoming a headline arrival. Tottenham have agreed a £75m fee with Manchester City, with a further £10m in potential add‑ons, for the Brazil winger, who is expected to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract in north London.
Savinho turned Spurs down last summer, choosing to stay at Etihad Stadium. It did not pay off in terms of game time. He managed just seven Premier League starts last term, and now the move that has been more than a year in the making is finally on the brink of completion.
The question is whether Tottenham can afford to stop there.
Spurs retain a firm interest in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, but the numbers are daunting. Financing a deal for the Netherlands forward on top of Savinho and a potential move for Marmoush would stretch even an ambitious budget. For now, Gakpo remains on the radar rather than on the runway.
Around the league, the market is crackling into life ahead of the new Premier League season.
Arsenal are closing in on Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa after the England international completed a medical for a move worth more than £50m. Villa, already planning for his departure, have seen an £18m offer plus add-ons for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis rejected. Southampton, who finished fourth in the Championship last season before the Spygate scandal wrecked their play-off hopes, value the England international at closer to £25m.
Liverpool, reshaping their attack after Mohamed Salah’s exit, have also hit resistance. A £50m bid for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has been turned down. The 22-year-old Gambia international, signed from Newcastle for £30m in 2024, has 10 goals and nine assists in 73 appearances for the Seagulls and is currently recovering from a leg injury picked up in a friendly against Roma. Andoni Iraola wants wide attackers, and Liverpool will keep testing the market.
There has been movement abroad too. Inter Milan have agreed a £30m deal for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, while Tijjani Reijnders has completed a £52m switch from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah.
All of it forms the backdrop to a new campaign that starts tonight, with defending champions Arsenal hosting Coventry on the opening night of the Premier League season.
But the early statement may yet come from north London’s other heavyweight. Tottenham are about to land Savinho. If Marmoush follows, and if they can somehow find room for Gakpo, De Zerbi’s attack will look nothing like the one he inherited – and everyone else will have to react.
