RTÉ to Broadcast Ireland–Israel Nations League Matches

RTÉ will fulfil its obligation to broadcast the Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League double-header against Israel – but viewers will get the bare minimum.

The national broadcaster has confirmed that coverage of both fixtures will be heavily scaled down. There will be no studio presentation, no panel, and no RTÉ match commentator on either game.

Ireland face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September in what is officially the ‘away’ leg, before the return ‘home’ fixture on 4 October in Backa Topola, Serbia.

For both matches, RTÉ will take the world feed commentary rather than using its own voices. Only a small technical crew will be sent to ensure the pictures go to air, with production stripped to the essentials.

RTÉ has also opted against taking any advertising or sponsorship around the games.

The broadcaster will still carry news coverage of the fixtures and of the wider events surrounding them, but the live match output itself will be as lean as the contract allows.
