Kylian Mbappe Signs Landmark Deal with On Sportswear
Kylian Mbappe has ended his long-running partnership with Nike, signing a landmark deal with Swiss sportswear brand On as the company makes a bold entrance into football.
The France captain, who has been with Nike since the start of his professional career, becomes the face of On’s push into the world’s biggest sport. The company confirmed the agreement on Friday, calling it “the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world’s biggest sport” alongside one of its biggest stars.
“From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow’s game,” he said. He spoke of wanting to inject his “experience and perspective” into the products, to “push what’s possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning.”
On is not just signing a superstar on the pitch. The company also announced that 1998 World Cup winner Thierry Henry has been appointed its football director, adding another heavyweight French name to its project.
The value and length of Mbappe’s contract have not been disclosed, but the intent is clear: On is moving aggressively into a market long dominated by giants such as Nike, Adidas and Puma.
Founded in 2010, the Zurich-based brand built its reputation in running and later expanded into tennis. It already counts tennis legend Roger Federer as a shareholder. Federer himself walked away from Nike late in his playing career to join On, lending the company both credibility and visibility at the elite level.
Now Mbappe follows a similar path, taking one of the game’s most marketable profiles to a challenger brand aiming to disrupt football’s established order.
