Juventus Sign Guglielmo Vicario on Long-Term Loan from Spurs
Juventus have moved to lock down their goal for the future, sealing the signing of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham on a long-term loan deal.
The club announced on Tuesday that the 29-year-old joins on loan until 30 June 2027, a rare three-year temporary move that underlines how heavily they plan to lean on him in Turin.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the agreement includes an option to buy set at €10 million, bonuses included.
From Udinese youth to European champion
Born in 1996, Vicario came through the Udinese academy before building his career step by step across Italy. He passed through Venezia, Perugia and Cagliari, but it was at Empoli where he truly made his name, amassing 69 Serie A appearances and earning a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
Tottenham swooped in 2023. Vicario quickly established himself in London, going on to play 117 matches for the Premier League club. The high point came in the 2024/25 season, when he helped Spurs lift the Europa League title, adding a European trophy to his CV before this move back to Italy.
Not Juventus’ first target, but their new No. 1?
The deal carries a small twist. Vicario was not originally at the top of Juventus’ list. Reports in recent weeks linked the club with Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez and Zion Suzuki as they scoured the market for a new goalkeeper.
Those pursuits faded. The opportunity for Vicario opened. Juventus moved decisively.
Now, with a three-year loan and a defined purchase option, the Bianconeri have handed the former Empoli and Tottenham keeper a long runway in Turin. The question is simple and sharp: can Vicario turn a stopgap solution into a long-term command of the Juventus goal?
