Camavinga Faces Decision as Mourinho’s Madrid Welcomes Bids

Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid are braced for at least one major midfield departure this summer, and all roads are starting to point towards Eduardo Camavinga.

The Frenchman arrived in Madrid as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, a player tipped to anchor the club’s next great era. Three seasons on, the feeling inside the Bernabeu is very different. After another underwhelming campaign in which he failed to impose himself, Camavinga has slipped down the pecking order and, crucially, lost his “untouchable” status.

That has opened the door for some of Europe’s heavyweights.

Manchester United join the chase

Paris Saint-Germain have long been circling, keen to take the 23-year-old back to France and rebuild their midfield with a player they know well from his Ligue 1 days.

Now Manchester United have stepped into the frame.

Journalist Miguel Serrano reports that United have formally asked about Camavinga’s situation and the conditions required to prise him away from Madrid. The Premier League club are tearing up their midfield blueprint: Casemiro has already gone, Manuel Ugarte is expected to follow, and the club hierarchy is looking for a younger core to carry the rebuild.

Interest in Aurelien Tchouameni has been noted, but United’s gaze has now widened to include his teammate. Camavinga, with his blend of energy and technical quality, fits the age profile and the reset they are trying to engineer.

They are not alone. Juventus have also made enquiries, sensing an opportunity if Madrid decide to cash in.

A €60 million decision

Inside the Bernabeu, the stance is clear. Real Madrid are open to offers.

Camavinga is no longer filed under “not for sale” and the club have set an asking price of €60 million. For a 23-year-old with Champions League and La Liga experience, it is a fee that sits comfortably within the reach of PSG, United and Juventus.

Yet there is a twist.

Camavinga does not want to leave.

Despite a season in which he struggled for prominence and even fell behind Thiago Pitarch in Mourinho’s plans at one stage, the midfielder has shown no inclination to walk away. His message, for now, is simple: he wants to stay, fight for his place and prove he can be a central figure in Mourinho’s new-look Madrid.

A fluid market, a fragile status

That determination may be tested in the coming weeks.

Madrid are actively exploring the market for a new midfielder. If they succeed in bringing one in, the numbers will force a sacrifice. Someone will have to go. On current form and status, Camavinga looks the most expendable of the established names.

For the clubs circling, that is the opening. A 23-year-old France international, available at a fixed price, with three of Europe’s giants ready to move and a coach in Mourinho who is unafraid to reshape his squad ruthlessly.

The situation is fluid, the outcome uncertain. But if Madrid do pull the trigger on a new midfield signing, the question will not be who wants Eduardo Camavinga.

It will be who gets to him first.
