Details about the date and location for the highly awaited fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have finally surfaced. After months of talks, the heavyweight showdown is set to take place in the UK this December.
Fight Location and Date Announced
The two British boxing stars signed their contracts back in April, but negotiations over where and when the fight would happen dragged on. Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, and TKO's Dana White engaged in a public tug-of-war. White pushed for the fight to happen in the United States, while Hearn insisted it must stay on British soil. Rumors circulated that Joshua even declined a move to Madison Square Garden, determined to keep the event at home.
American sports journalist Dan Rafael recently revealed on social media that if everything is finalized, the bout will be held on December 11th at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. This venue, which can hold around 74,000 fans, has hosted major fights before, including Joshua’s victory over Joseph Parker in 2018 and Joe Calzaghe's win in 2007.
Other possible dates floated around were November 28th and December 4th, but the December 11th date seems most likely, though Rafael noted some permits and paperwork still need sorting out. Confirmation could arrive soon, as Hearn clarified that Dana White is not promoting the fight.
Build-Up to the Fight
The matchup has been long-awaited by British boxing fans, with concerns that it might never happen given both fighters are moving into the later phases of their careers. Both stepped back into the ring this year to prepare: Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds in July after beating Arslanbek Makhmudov in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After that win, Fury called out Joshua directly from the ring.
Joshua returned to boxing following his involvement in a tragic car accident last December, which claimed the lives of his two friends. In July, he knocked out Kristian Prenga in the second round despite being knocked down twice early on.
Promoters’ Clash Overshadows Build-Up
Instead of the usual verbal jabs between fighters, this time the drama has centered on the promoters. White accused Hearn of trying to block the fight and stall negotiations, while Hearn fired back, insisting that all contracts were signed and should be respected.
"Dana White has tried to get involved in a fight that he has nothing to do with and to get Sela to break their contract, scrap a British fight, and bring it to America," Hearn said. "All we have ever done is say, ‘We’ve signed our contract. Just honour the contract that we’ve signed.'"
Hearn added that Joshua refused to accept more money to move the fight to the US, saying Joshua cares about British boxing and honoring agreements. He criticized White's belief that money could sway Joshua, stating, "Anthony Joshua is not a sellout." This stance means the fight is almost certainly staying in the UK.

The fight is expected to start late in the UK evening to accommodate American viewers. The Principality Stadium looks set to host what could be the biggest all-British heavyweight clash in history, filling its 74,000 seats with eager fans ready for an unforgettable night.
