Tyson Fury Plans to Invite Donald Trump for Anthony Joshua Bout

Tyson Fury is known for turning his boxing matches into grand events well before the first bell sounds. His entrances often feature dramatic pyrotechnics and music, building excitement among fans at the venue and watching remotely.

For his upcoming clash against fellow Brit and former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, scheduled for December 11th at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Fury seems ready to create an unforgettable atmosphere once again.

This time, though, the 38-year-old heavyweight champion is considering involving Donald Trump, the President of the United States, in his ring walk. Such a move could stir controversy, but Fury appears undeterred by any backlash.

The Long-Awaited Fury vs Joshua Fight

After years of delays caused by disagreements between fighters and promoters, plus ill-timed losses on both sides, the highly anticipated superfight looks set to happen in the UK. Fury has never hidden his intention to maximize his earnings from this fight—even if it means the match doesn’t take place.

When rumors placed the bout at Madison Square Garden in New York, Fury was eager to accept, knowing the payday would be significant. However, Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn insisted the fight remain in Britain, even accepting a large pay cut for that to occur.

The result: the near-74,000 capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff will host the showdown.

Fury's Signature Showmanship

Wherever he fights, Fury knows how to generate buzz. In 2020, during his rematch with Deontay Wilder at the MGM Grand, he entered wearing a robe and crown while seated on a throne. In their 2021 trilogy fight, he appeared as a Spartan warrior, walking to AC/DC’s "You Shook Me All Night Long."

His 2022 WBC title defense versus Dillian Whyte at Wembley featured a mix of "American Pie," "Jerusalem," and "Your Sex Is On Fire," paired with ring gear inspired by England’s flag. Against Oleksandr Usyk, he walked out to "Holding Out For A Hero" in May 2024 and opened their December rematch with "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

Trump’s Possible Role in the Event

For the Joshua fight, Fury wants to repeat his extravagant pre-fight theatrics but with a new twist. He has offered to invite Donald Trump to join him during his ring walk in December.

"I'll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, and we'll see if he's available. It's probably unlikely because of the situation he's in at the moment, being the President of the United States," Fury said.

Fury acknowledges that Trump faces pressing issues, including the upcoming mid-term elections in November and ongoing conflicts abroad. Since the fight won’t take place in the US, Fury’s estimate of Trump’s availability being slim seems reasonable.
