Tottenham Pursue Savinho and Marmoush in Ambitious Double Deal

Tottenham are trying to rip two forwards out of Manchester City in one hit, with Savinho and Marmoush both on their radar as a high-profile double deal gathers pace, according to The Athletic.

Nothing is signed. Not yet. But talks between the two Premier League clubs are described as progressing well, and the shape of Spurs’ attacking rebuild is suddenly coming into focus.

Savinho back on the agenda

Spurs know Savinho well. They went hard for the Brazilian last summer, only to be knocked back when City refused to cash in.

This time feels different.

Savinho was left out of the squad entirely for City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a notable omission for a player who had previously been protected from the market. That decision has sharpened the sense that his Etihad future is open, and Tottenham are moving quickly to exploit it.

Marmoush eyed as Haaland understudy no more

On the other side of the deal sits Marmoush, long viewed inside City as a likely departure this window after serving mainly as cover for Erling Haaland.

The numbers from his last months before arriving in Manchester still jump off the page: 15 goals in 17 games in his final half-season for Eintracht Frankfurt. That streak is exactly what Tottenham are gambling on, hoping those instincts translate to north London and to a far heavier workload.

For Roberto De Zerbi, Marmoush would not be a luxury. He would be a necessity.

A spending spree with a plan

If Spurs land both forwards, it will cap a staggering summer of business.

The club have already committed around £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, reshaping the spine of the team in one window. Around those headline deals, they have moved smartly in the free-transfer market, bringing in Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka without a fee.

Despite the outlay, Tottenham are understood to remain on the right side of financial regulations. That position owes plenty to a strategic shift from majority owners ENIC, who have started injecting significant funds into the club, and to major exits such as Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m.

Big sales out. Big names in. The model has changed — and this window is the proof.

De Zerbi’s “bomba” and a glaring need up front

Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters with talk of a surprise “bomba” signing. The Italian has not backed away from bold promises since arriving, and the pursuit of Savinho and Marmoush fits that tone.

The need is obvious. Richarlison is down to the final year of his contract. Dominic Solanke has battled injuries. For a side with top-four ambitions, the attacking depth chart has looked worryingly thin.

Two forwards of this profile would flip that script in an instant. Savinho offers pace and flair from wide areas; Marmoush brings penalty-box presence and a recent scoring pedigree. Together, they would give De Zerbi fresh ways to hurt teams and real rotation options across the front line.

A potential powerhouse attack

Tottenham’s hierarchy now move into the decisive phase: turning promising talks with City into finalised agreements before the window shuts.

If they get both over the line, De Zerbi will walk into the autumn with one of the most dangerous attacking units in the league, backed by a midfield rebuilt at enormous cost and an ownership group suddenly willing to push harder than at any time in the ENIC era.

The money is on the table. The manager has made his promise. The question now is simple: will Savinho and Marmoush be the missing pieces that drag Spurs back into the top four, or just the latest roll of the dice in a club determined to force its way back among the elite?
