Thomas Tuchel Predicts Harry Kane Will Reach 100 Goals for England in 13 Matches
Thomas Tuchel Confident Harry Kane Will Join Elite 100-Goal Club
Thomas Tuchel, England's manager, believes Harry Kane is close to joining the exclusive group of footballers with 100 or more international goals. Tuchel expects Kane to achieve this milestone within his next 13 games for England.
Kane currently has 87 goals for England after scoring against the Czech Republic in a 2-0 UEFA Nations League victory. This goal placed him eighth on the all-time men's international scoring list. Only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Ali Daei have exceeded 100 goals.
Tuchel’s High Praise and Ambitious Prediction
The former Bayern Munich coach described Kane as an exceptional striker, saying he is "the highest level of goalscorer" and insisting that the 33-year-old will reach 100 goals soon. He commented, "He is closing in. He scored again. 13 goals left." When asked if he really believes Kane will hit the target in just 13 appearances, Tuchel responded firmly, "Thirteen matches. You will not get another Harry Kane, first of all."
The Challenge of Replacing Kane
Despite Kane's current form, Tuchel warned that finding a successor of similar quality will not be easy. He remarked that while there will be another player eventually, it won’t be a replica of Kane, and it could take up to a decade before England finds someone comparable.
Tuchel said, "There will be someone else but it will not be Harry or a copy of Harry. We will find a solution when it comes to it but maybe not me. It might be another 10 years."
Kane Focuses on Present Achievements
Kane, who broke Wayne Rooney’s England goal record of 53 three years ago, remains grounded despite the excitement about reaching 100 goals. He is set to earn his 124th cap against Croatia soon. Last season, he scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich, making him one of world football’s top scorers and a strong candidate for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.
"I don’t like to think too far ahead, but of course, it’s getting closer. You know, 100 goals for the national team would be something special without a doubt," Kane said. "It still feels like yesterday I just broke the record and I was away in Italy getting that one. The seasons come and they go quickly, so I just enjoy being out there with the boys on the pitch, wearing the Three Lions shirt and that won’t change."
Reflecting on Performance and Team Progress
Kane shared how important scoring goals remains to him, calling it the best feeling in football. He also described how sometimes his role involves more than just scoring—helping build play, passing, or switching attacks.
"The striker’s job is to score goals first and foremost, and I know that, and I love doing that. It’s still the best feeling there is," Kane explained. "It was nice to get it just before coming off, otherwise I’d have been itching to still be out there."
Though England won their recent game, Kane acknowledged there is room for improvement, especially in final passes and crosses. Still, he noted the importance of securing wins and moving forward.
"The final product has to be perfect and I don’t think it was quite there. I still think we can improve in that sense, with the final cross or the final through ball. But in the end, a win’s a win. I’ve been around long enough in the team where sometimes you just have to win the game and move on and tonight was one of those," Kane concluded.
