Tegan Bowie Leaves Hibernian for Parma Calcio
Tegan Bowie’s Hibernian story is over. The next chapter is written in Italian.
The 22-year-old winger has completed a permanent move to Serie A side Parma Calcio after the Italians activated a release clause in her contract, ending a spell in Edinburgh that turned her from academy prospect into title winner and one of Hibs’ most influential players.
From academy kid to title winner
Bowie’s path has never been straight. She came through the Hibs academy before heading to Celtic, only to return to Edinburgh in 2023 with more experience, sharper edges and a clear sense she was ready to lead rather than simply learn.
Back in green and white, she quickly became central to Hibernian’s attacking identity. Across her time at the club she made 101 appearances and scored nine goals, but the raw numbers only tell part of the story. Last season is where her impact truly spiked.
In the 2024-25 campaign, Bowie played a major role in Hibs’ title-winning run, contributing five goals and 10 assists. She stretched defences, carried the ball at pace, and repeatedly found the final pass when games tightened. When the pressure rose, she often provided the release.
A clause that finally bit
For Hibs, the departure is laced with frustration. The club had secured Bowie on terms that included a release clause from summer 2025, a detail that always carried risk once her performances began to climb.
That risk has now materialised. Parma moved decisively, triggered the clause and left Hibs with no room to negotiate, only to accept.
Head coach Joelle Murray did not hide the mixed emotions as she spoke to club media. She admitted she was disappointed to lose Bowie under the terms of that clause, but pointed to the scale of the player’s development in Edinburgh, both on the pitch and off it. The message was clear: this is a player Hibs wanted to keep, but one they have helped prepare for a bigger stage.
A farewell with gratitude
Bowie’s own response carried the tone of someone who knows what she is leaving behind. She thanked Hibs and spoke of some of her favourite memories being made with this team. The freedom she felt to express herself on the pitch, she said, has been crucial to her development.
That freedom has now earned her a move to one of Europe’s major football nations. A new country, a new league, a new dressing room. Parma gain a winger who arrives as a champion, used to responsibility and with the confidence of a player whose end product has finally caught up with her potential.
Hibs, meanwhile, lose a key piece of their title-winning side and face the familiar question that follows every successful season: how do you replace the player who just proved she was ready to outgrow your league?
