Scotland’s No 1: 13-Year-Old Daniel Nevin Meets Angus Gunn

The Scotland squad are tucked away in a Boston hotel this morning, but not quite out of reach. Certainly not for 13-year-old Daniel Nevin.

While most fans will only see their heroes from the stands later tonight, Daniel found himself within walking distance of his national team — and he made it count. The young Scotland supporter, who plays for St Cadoc’s Youth Club in Glasgow, met Angus Gunn in the team hotel and posed for a photo with the national No 1.

His father, Tommy Nevin, 55, watched his son’s moment unfold. Daniel, he said, was “delighted” to meet the goalkeeper and is now willing Gunn to repay the favour under the lights, hoping he keeps a clean sheet tonight against Morocco.

A small encounter in a hotel lobby, but the kind that lingers. For a teenager dreaming in Scotland colours, the World Cup has already delivered. The rest is up to Gunn and his team.
