Former Corinthians and Vasco Striker Regis Pitbull Faces Homelessness Amid Crack Addiction

Regis Pitbull, once a notable striker for Corinthians and Vasco da Gama, is now living on the streets of São Paulo. The 49-year-old former footballer struggles with a severe crack cocaine addiction that has left him unrecognizable and isolated from family.

Life on the Streets of Pirituba

According to journalist Emilio Botta from Globo Esporte, Regis shelters in the northern São Paulo district of Pirituba, taking refuge under tarps, old blankets, and cardboard amidst rubble and garbage. His addiction has stripped him of his home, dignity, and most connections with friends and family.

A Heartbreaking Admission

"It's better if they think I'm dead... I don't want anyone to know I exist," Regis confessed during a conversation with Botta, revealing the depth of his pain.

His dire situation came to light after former teammates from an amateur squad expressed concern over his health decline. His issues with drugs started during his playing days, having failed anti-doping tests twice for cannabis.

A Career Undone by Addiction

Throughout his career, Regis scored 49 goals in 170 official matches, representing clubs such as Coritiba, Bahia, and Portuguesa, alongside spells in Japan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. After retiring, substance abuse gradually took control of his life. His legal troubles worsened in 2025 when he was arrested for assaulting a building manager, leading to eviction from his apartment.

Ongoing Legal Issues and Hope for the Future

His last remaining apartment is involved in civil court cases due to unpaid condo fees and property taxes, putting it at risk of foreclosure. Despite this, reports suggest Regis still hopes to reclaim the property someday.
