Real Madrid Pursues Yan Diomande Amid €100m Bids
The summer market has its first true tug-of-war. According to Bild, Real Madrid have opened talks with both RB Leipzig and the camp of Yan Diomande, the Ivorian winger who has suddenly become one of the most coveted young forwards in Europe.
Liverpool have already tested Leipzig’s resolve with an offer in excess of €100 million. It was rejected. Paris Saint-Germain circled during the World Cup with a proposal and negotiations of their own. Arsenal have made contact as well.
Leipzig, for now, are holding their nerve. Madrid, though, rarely enter a race they do not intend to win.
Rodri at the centre of a storm
While Diomande’s future is being fought over, another saga is brewing around one of the most influential midfielders in the game.
The Athletic reports that Real Madrid have also made contact to explore a deal for Spain captain Rodri, currently at Manchester City. It is an audacious play: the heartbeat of City, the leader of Spain’s European champions, being lined up as a possible Galáctico.
Enzo Maresca, speaking on Friday, confirmed Rodri has undergone back surgery and will be sidelined for an unspecified period. The injury clouds City’s immediate plans and, more importantly, sharpens focus on his contract situation.
PSG have sensed the opening. With only a year left on Rodri’s deal, the French champions have contacted City to understand the terms of a possible transfer. Reinforcing midfield was not on their original summer blueprint, but a player of this calibre, at this contractual crossroads, changes any plan.
Real Madrid are viewed as the frontrunners. Reports say they already have an agreement with the player, while Barcelona are monitoring from the fringes, fully aware that if the numbers ever come within reach, they would love to be in the conversation.
Lukaku refuses to play understudy
In Italy, Romelu Lukaku has drawn a clear line. The Belgian striker will not accept a season as a rotation piece at Napoli.
His agent, Federico Pastorello, told Sky that Lukaku will not be content sitting behind Rasmus Hojlund in the pecking order. Pastorello still sees his client as one of the best in the world in his position and believes his minutes should reflect that status.
Napoli now know they cannot simply stash Lukaku on the bench and expect silence.
Arsenal’s bold play for Julián Álvarez
Arsenal, never shy in this window, are preparing another ambitious move. Cadena SER reports that the London club are readying an offer of cash plus striker Viktor Gyökeres in an attempt to prise Julián Álvarez from Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona, though, remain the most persistent suitors for the Argentine forward. Atletico have already rejected an official bid from the Catalans and are standing firm, insisting their financial demands must be fully met before they even consider letting Álvarez leave.
The message from Madrid is simple: anyone wanting Álvarez will have to pay the premium.
Leão weighs his next step
In Milan, Rafael Leão has lit the fuse on speculation over his future. Speaking to Brazilian podcast Podpah, the Portugal forward said he has made his stance clear to the club but will continue to train with the group until the situation becomes clearer.
So far, according to La Gazzetta, there is nothing concrete on the table. The only official offer has come from Fenerbahce, and that does not match Leão’s vision for the next stage of his career.
Fenerbahce have gone further, issuing a statement on their website to deny talk of a huge move. They dismissed reports linking them with Stuttgart’s Ermedin Demirovic and flatly rejected rumours of a €100 million package, salary included, for Leão, branding the stories untrue.
The forward wants a new challenge. The market, at least at the top end, has yet to present the one he is waiting for.
Darwin Núñez nears Besiktas switch
Away from the headline names, another striker is edging toward a fresh start. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Darwin Núñez is closing in on a move from Al-Hilal to Besiktas this window.
Personal terms with the Turkish giants are said to be close. The fee Al-Hilal would receive, and the structure of any agreement, remain unclear for now, but Besiktas appear confident they are moving into the final stretch of negotiations.
Lyon close on Openda loan
In France, Olympique Lyon are moving to reinforce their attack. Fabrizio Romano, citing Fabrice Hawkins, reports that Lyon have reached a verbal agreement with Juventus for striker Louis Openda.
The deal is set to be a loan worth around €3 million, with Lyon covering the full salary and no option to buy included. A short-term solution, a clear bet that Openda can provide immediate impact without long-term financial risk.
