Giacomo Raspadori Withdraws from Italy's Nations League Squad Ahead of France Clash

Giacomo Raspadori, the versatile forward from Atalanta, will miss Italy’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against France and Turkiye due to injury. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed his withdrawal after medical assessments revealed he isn’t fit to play.

Injury Forces Early Departure

Raspadori left the camp early following evaluations by the national team’s medical staff. He had been forced off at halftime during Italy’s 4-1 win over Turkiye with an injury, adding to concerns after Nicolo Zaniolo’s earlier exit from the squad. His absence removes a key attacking option for coach Roberto Mancini during this international break.

The FIGC released a statement: "Giacomo Raspadori was given complete rest. After undergoing medical tests and confirming he won’t be available for the upcoming fixtures, he will return to his club."

Tactical Preparations Continue at Coverciano

Despite losing Raspadori, the team remains upbeat following their commanding performance in Bursa. The squad returned to Coverciano to prepare for the match against Zidane’s France at the Stade de France on Friday, followed by the home fixture against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5.

Mancini has divided training sessions to manage players’ workloads. Starters from the last game focused on recovery, while others, including fringe players and those who didn’t travel to Turkiye, worked through intense tactical drills at Fiorentina’s Viola Park. The group concentrated on attack-versus-defence exercises, aiming to keep most players fresh despite Raspadori’s absence.

Pressure on Italy’s Forward Line

Italy’s attacking efficiency has come under scrutiny, even though their four-goal victory over Turkiye eased some pressure. Losing a player noted for his movement and skill is a setback, leaving Mancini to decide whether to summon a replacement or trust his current squad depth.
