PSG Pursues Ajax Winger Mika Godts Amid Barcola Exit
Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on Ajax winger Mika Godts, opening talks with the Dutch club as they accelerate plans to reshape their attack.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations are under way, with PSG pushing hard to bring the Belgian talent to the Parc des Princes. The French champions are already close to wrapping up a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco after beating Liverpool to the Frenchman, and Godts has now been identified as the next piece in a revamped forward line.
Ajax, though, are digging in. The Amsterdam club are determined to keep the 21-year-old, who has just delivered a standout season and is viewed as one of the brightest prospects in the Eredivisie.
PSG, for their part, have made their move. Godts has reportedly given the green light to the transfer after what have been described as “direct positive talks” with the club’s transfer chief Luis Campos, putting the onus firmly on the two clubs to find an agreement.
Barcola out, Godts in?
The push for Godts is closely tied to the future of Bradley Barcola.
Barcola has informed PSG that he will not extend his current deal, which runs until 2028, a stance that has effectively opened the door to a summer exit. Liverpool are currently leading the chase for the France international and are expected to lodge their first formal offer in the coming days.
His departure would leave Luis Enrique short of options on the left wing and force PSG to act. That is where Godts fits in.
A right-footed attacker who prefers to start on the left, Godts offers the profile PSG want: direct, quick, inventive, and ruthless in front of goal. He can also operate as an attacking midfielder, giving Enrique extra flexibility in a squad that is being steadily reshaped around younger, high-ceiling talent.
Eredivisie’s new standout talent
Godts’ rise has been rapid and emphatic.
Last season he produced 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions, numbers that underline why Ajax are so reluctant to lose him and why Europe’s elite have started to circle. His blend of pace, close control, creativity and sharp finishing has already drawn comparisons with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Those performances earned him the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year award, a prize that often signals the next big export from Dutch football. He beat a strong field that included AZ’s Kees Smit, himself linked with several major clubs.
Ajax now face a familiar dilemma: hold on to a burgeoning star or cash in at the peak of his value. PSG, with Barcola edging towards the exit and Liverpool hovering over both ends of this transfer triangle, are pushing to make sure the next breakout name in Amsterdam makes his leap in Paris.
