PSG Pursues Mika Godts Amid Premier League Interest
Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their pursuit of Ajax sensation Mika Godts – and the ripple has been felt immediately across north London and the north-west.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been sounded out over a potential hijack of the deal, with the Belgian winger valued at around €60m by Ajax.
He is only 21. His numbers are not.
Godts exploded in Amsterdam last season, racking up 32 goal contributions in a campaign where almost everything around him misfired. While Ajax lurched through one of the most turbulent domestic seasons in their modern history, the young attacker kept producing, week after week, and forced his way onto the radar of Europe’s elite.
That form has pushed him into the bracket of the most coveted young forwards on the continent – and PSG are now trying to move first.
PSG push ahead after Diomande miss
Sources indicate PSG have already held positive talks over a transfer for Godts after failing to land RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande. The French champions are close to wrapping up a separate deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, yet Luis Campos is refusing to stop there.
The club’s football advisor wants another attacker to layer into Luis Enrique’s long-term blueprint and views Godts as a near-ideal fit: young, versatile, and technically sharp enough to slot into PSG’s fluid front line.
Godts is understood to be open to the move. He knows what awaits him in Paris – a dressing room stacked with attacking stars and a constant fight for minutes – but the prospect of joining one of Europe’s most powerful squads still appeals.
As PSG’s interest hardened, intermediaries moved quickly. The message went out to England.
Premier League giants put on alert
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been updated on the situation, having kept varying levels of contact with Godts’ camp throughout the summer.
Each of the four has a different reason to stay close.
Arsenal are still in the market for a left-sided attacker, someone who can ease the load on their current starters and maintain the club’s high technical level in wide areas. Godts, comfortable operating off the left and contributing heavily in the final third, ticks that box.
Liverpool and Tottenham have both been scouring the market for extra wide options during this window. For clubs that lean heavily on high-tempo, attacking football, a 21-year-old with end product and upside is exactly the kind of profile that demands a second look.
Manchester United’s brief is slightly broader. They want a versatile forward who can play across the front line, and sources insist their interest in the Belgium international remains alive, even as other targets occupy headlines.
For now, none of the English clubs has made the decisive move. But none of them has walked away either.
Ajax dig in – at a price
Ajax, though, are not behaving like a selling club.
The Dutch giants value Godts at around €60m (£51m), a figure that has not scared PSG off but underlines how highly he is rated in Amsterdam. Technical director Jordi Cruyff underlined the club’s stance in an interview with De Telegraaf, making it clear Ajax are in no rush to cash in.
“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff said. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”
That is the public line. Behind it, PSG are still probing.
Despite Ajax’s firm messaging, there is a belief in Paris that a deal could yet be constructed if talks continue and the numbers fall into the right place. The French champions remain optimistic enough to keep pushing, aware that a player of Godts’ profile rarely stays available for long.
Watching all of this from a short distance are Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Spurs, tracking every twist. If Ajax soften, or if PSG hesitate, the race could change in an instant.
