Premier League Transfer Market Moves: Big Names and Decisions

Premier League heavyweights are already jostling for position, and the transfer window is still weeks away. Across England and Spain, some of the game’s biggest names are being circled, priced up and, in a few cases, ring‑fenced.

Here’s where the market is starting to move.

Premier League: Big Money, Big Names, Big Decisions

Manchester United have tested the water with AC Milan over Rafael Leão. Informal enquiries only so far, but the message from Milan is clear: €50 million is the starting point. The Rossoneri would cash in on the Portugal international if the offer hits the right level.

Up the road at Anfield, Liverpool have locked in on Nico Williams. The Athletic Club forward has become their priority attacking target for the summer, with talks centering around a fee of roughly €80 million. The plan is simple: bring the Spaniard to Anfield and refresh the front line.

Arsenal are thinking even bigger. The Gunners want a statement signing in attack and have placed Atlético Madrid forward Julián Alvarez at the top of their list. The price? A potential club-record £130 million. To get him out of Spain, Arsenal would have to smash their own transfer ceiling.

Everton’s summer looks more delicate. They have no intention of triggering the £50 million option to buy Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish, yet they still hope to keep him. Another loan or a renegotiated, lower fee remains on the table as they search for a compromise.

At the back, the Toffees are eyeing John Stones. The Manchester City defender has admirers at Goodison Park, but they are not alone. Monaco, Marseille and Inter Milan, along with other Premier League sides, are all in the mix, turning any move into a full-blown bidding contest.

Manchester United’s recruitment team have also turned their gaze to Ajax. Winger Mika Godts is now firmly on their radar, with the club preparing a serious push once the window opens. That would be a major setback for Newcastle United, who have also been tracking the 19-year-old closely.

Aston Villa’s plans hinge on Champions League qualification. If Unai Emery’s side make it, they intend to accelerate their move for Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur are all monitoring the 24-year-old, but Villa are ready to be aggressive if Europe’s top competition comes calling.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are wrestling with a tougher call. They are in talks to sign Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha on a permanent deal despite a season that has underwhelmed. Spurs will wait until the campaign is over before making a final decision on whether to commit.

Lower down the ladder, one move could depend entirely on promotion. If Ipswich Town reach the Premier League, Chelsea striker Liam Delap is expected to leave Stamford Bridge and return to his former club. No promotion, no reunion.

One player not going anywhere is Lisandro Martínez. Manchester United have shut the door on any offers for the centre back and intend to trigger the option that extends his contract beyond June 2027. For all the noise around Old Trafford, his future looks nailed down.

La Liga and Beyond: Power Plays in Spain and Italy

In Spain, the coaching carousel could trigger its own transfer chain. If José Mourinho returns to the Bernabéu, the Portuguese coach has already marked out Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha as his prime target. The midfield rebuild would start there.

Marc Cucurella, battling through Chelsea’s turmoil, is ready to come home. The fullback is open to joining Barcelona to escape the ongoing crisis at Stamford Bridge. The Catalan club, though, have cooled on the idea, wary of the hefty fee compared to making João Cancelo’s stay permanent.

Real Madrid left back Álvaro Carreras has drawn interest from Arsenal. With the London club prioritising both fullback positions this summer, the Spaniard’s situation is being closely watched. Ferland Mendy’s resurgence has left Carreras vulnerable at the Bernabéu and potentially available.

Back at Atlético Madrid, Julián Alvarez is again at the centre of attention. Despite interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, his preferred destination remains Barcelona. For now, he is focused on finishing the season strongly and then turning his attention to the 2026 World Cup, but the tug-of-war is already underway.

Atlético are also ready to spend big themselves. They are preparing a €60 million offer for Marseille forward Mason Greenwood. The Englishman wants Champions League football next season, and Atlético can put that on the table.

In Italy, Juventus are casting an eye towards Barcelona. They like Robert Lewandowski, but any move for the striker will wait. First, they want to secure Dušan Vlahović on a renewed deal before even thinking about another marquee centre forward.

The numbers are already huge. The names are even bigger. And this is only the opening act of the summer window.
