Premier League Managers at Risk of Dismissal During International Break

The initial international break of the season has arrived, sending players off worldwide to join their national squads. Premier League matches will pause until October 10th.

Not every manager in the top division will enjoy a peaceful break; some face the looming threat of losing their jobs before club football resumes.

Roberto De Zerbi - Tottenham Hotspur

De Zerbi's tenure might come to an end during this pause. Tottenham currently sits at the bottom of the league after suffering three defeats and two draws from their first five games. Expectations were high following over 300 million spent on signings like Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, and Jan Paul van Hecke. The main factor keeping De Zerbi employed could be the costly nature of terminating his five-year contract signed in April.

Michael Carrick - Manchester United

Carrick initially improved Manchester United's form when he took over as interim head coach in January. Since becoming permanent boss, results have taken a nosedive. United find themselves in the lower half of the table with just five points from five matches, including losses to Hull City and Manchester City. The club's management still supports Carrick but may need to reconsider if the poor run continues.

Alvaro Arbeloa - Fulham

Fulham started the season badly with three straight league defeats. Some progress followed, with draws against Liverpool and Manchester United. Arbeloa brought in three players from Castilla during the summer, a move reportedly unpopular within the squad. If rumors of unrest inside the team hold true, more disappointing results could seal the Spaniard's fate.

Frank Lampard - Coventry City

Lampard guided Coventry City back to the Premier League after a 25-year absence by winning the Championship. Yet, the return to the top flight has been challenging. Despite a recent win over Nottingham Forest, Coventry remains in the relegation zone after losing four out of five opening games. Fans still support Lampard, but a string of poor results might quickly change that sentiment.
