Piers Morgan Defends Michael Olise Amid Criticism Over Bayern Interview
Piers Morgan Reacts to Michael Olise's Post-Match Interview Controversy
Following Bayern Munich’s dominant 5-0 Champions League victory against Bodo/Glimt, Michael Olise faced criticism for his brief and blunt responses during a post-match interview with DAZN. The French international, who moved from Crystal Palace to Bayern in 2024 for £50 million, was named Man of the Match but left some viewers frustrated by his manner.
Olise, often dubbed football’s ‘Mr Nonchalant,’ has split opinion on social media after this appearance. Some fans called his attitude rude, while others suggested that he might not be suited for interviews and that Bayern should reconsider his media duties.
Piers Morgan Weighs In
The outspoken broadcaster and Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan responded strongly after a tweet described Olise as “rude and annoying.” Morgan acknowledged Olise’s style but praised his talent, saying, “... and a brilliant footballer. I’d take him at Arsenal in a heartbeat.”
Olise demonstrated his exceptional skills in the match with two memorable goals, including a spectacular 25-yard strike that many viewed as one of the best in the Champions League group stage opener.
Olise’s Impressive Form Continues
The winger finished the 2025-26 season in top form, scoring 22 goals and assisting 31 times across 52 matches. This season, he has already scored five goals and provided two assists in just five games, maintaining his impact on the pitch.
Bayern’s coaching team seems unfazed by his interview style, focusing instead on his consistent performances. Since joining the club, Olise has helped Bayern secure two Bundesliga titles and two German Cups, while earning Player of the Season honors twice and making the Bundesliga Team of the Season in consecutive years.
There is growing speculation that Olise could be among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or later this year.
