Details on the Replacement
The Athletic confirmed that the Nottingham Forest midfielder will join the team after Palmer's withdrawal was announced on Monday. Gibbs-White, 26, had been enjoying a family break in Dubai following his appearance in Forest’s 1-0 Premier League loss against Coventry City last Saturday.
He has since returned to England and will link up with the squad as the Three Lions prepare to kick off their Nations League campaign.
Season Form and International Experience
Despite a strong start to the season, Gibbs-White was not included in Tuchel’s initial 27-man roster. Last season, he netted 15 Premier League goals and holds six caps for England, having made his senior debut in September 2024.
Cole Palmer’s Season and Withdrawal
Palmer, currently with Chelsea, scored four goals and assisted twice in seven appearances this season. He played the full match during Friday's 3-0 defeat to Brentford but will now miss the international window to manage his workload.
