Ramy Abbas Issa, the long-time representative and trusted voice around Salah, has again taken to social media to address the swirl of speculation surrounding the Egypt captain. This time, the message carried a clear hint: the end of the saga is in sight.
“We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon,” Abbas wrote, offering just enough to ignite another round of intrigue without lifting the curtain entirely.
What he did make absolutely plain was the way Team Salah are handling the process.
“It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise,” he added – a pointed line in a market where rumours often travel faster than facts.
That stance fits with the pattern Abbas has tried to set over the past two months. On May 24, only hours after Salah’s 442nd and final appearance for Liverpool, the agent moved quickly to shut down a flood of claims about pre-agreed deals and secret meetings.
“We do not know where Mohamed will play next season,” he said then. “This also means that no one else knows. Beware of the click-w****** attention seekers.”
The message was blunt: unless it comes from Salah’s camp, treat it with caution.
On June 12, Abbas doubled down on the theme of privacy and control. “Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them,” he wrote. “Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it.”
Behind those carefully chosen words sits one of the biggest free-agent decisions in world football.
Salah, who helped guide Egypt to the last 16 at the World Cup and became a symbol of Liverpool’s modern era, walked away from Anfield this summer after agreeing to terminate his contract a year early. It was a rare move at that level: a mutual parting, a clean break, and the chance to choose his next destination without a transfer fee.
The queue to sign him reflects his enduring status. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have long been viewed as frontrunners, armed with financial power and a clear desire to add another global star to their project. Interest has also arrived from MLS clubs in the United States, where Salah would instantly become one of the league’s marquee attractions, and from Turkey, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas all credited with admiration.
Abbas’s latest update does not tip the balance towards any of those options. It does something else: it signals that the decision phase has begun.
