Milos Kerkez Praises Bradley Barcola’s Swift Impact at Liverpool
Bradley Barcola, the new signing from Paris Saint-Germain, has swiftly made his presence felt among his Liverpool teammates. After joining the Reds on Monday, the French forward adapted quickly during training sessions at the AXA Training Centre as the team prepares for their upcoming Premier League match against Ipswich Town.
Liverpool started their season with two 2-2 draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, leaving them eager for their first league win. Barcola’s arrival has injected fresh energy and added a new attacking threat to the squad before their trip to Portman Road.
Milos Kerkez Highlights Barcola's Potential
Left-back Milos Kerkez spoke positively about Barcola’s early performances in training. He emphasized Barcola’s speed, dribbling skills, and room for growth as a player.
"He’s a great player. Everyone knows him obviously. After two or three sessions, you can see the quality and potential to improve a lot. He can be a really good player," Kerkez said.
"Really fast, good dribbler, so I think he’s going to help us a lot," he added.
Defensive Work Amidst Attacking Boost
While Barcola boosts the attack, Liverpool’s defense has been a focus after conceding four goals in their opening two games. Kerkez revealed the defensive unit conducted video analysis sessions to correct errors that led to both matches requiring comebacks.
"For us, especially as defenders, we want clean sheets and the target is you don’t want them to score. We worked to correct those things this week, so I think it should get better," Kerkez explained.
"We had meetings and video analysis for the defenders always. Obviously, we don’t want to come back from behind – we want to start winning from the beginning," he continued.
Preparing for Ipswich Town
As Liverpool readies for Friday’s match against newly promoted Ipswich Town, who have one win and one loss under coach Gary O’Neil, Kerkez confirmed thorough preparation has been underway. The coaching staff analyzed every opponent’s player and tactical approach to ensure readiness.
"I think obviously we’re analyzing everything, so we will know what to expect from every player, from the tactics," Kerkez said. "Every game we do, we come really prepared."
With Barcola pushing for his debut and defensive improvements being implemented, Liverpool are aiming to secure three points and a clean sheet in this fixture.
