Didier Deschamps Confirms Kylian Mbappe Ready for France's World Cup Semi-Final Against Spain
Didier Deschamps has assured that Kylian Mbappe is fit and ready to feature in France’s World Cup semi-final clash with Spain, despite some recent worries about an ankle injury. The French captain had a brief period of separate training on Monday, but his coach explained this was part of managing his recovery rather than a sign of a fresh problem.
Deschamps Addresses Mbappe's Condition
Mbappe left the field during the 77th minute of France’s 2-0 win over Morocco after mentioning a minor ankle issue. Doubts rose when he trained apart from the main group, and reports from RMC Sport suggested he was still feeling discomfort. Yet, Deschamps emphasized there had been no setback in his rehabilitation.
“He feels good,” the France coach told The Athletic. “He has the right, like others, to go 15 minutes instead of 20 minutes on a drill.”
Midfield Reinforcements with Tchouameni's Return
Alongside Mbappe’s availability, France expects a boost from the possible return of Tchouameni in midfield after his recent absence. This adds depth to Deschamps’ options against Spain’s possession-oriented style, which has impressed throughout the tournament.
“Even though he was on the bench for the last game, the risk was still high. He’s better today. I’m not going to say he’s been 100 percent cured. He’s now available,” said Deschamps regarding Tchouameni’s fitness.
Mbappe Leading Golden Boot Race
Mbappe arrives at the semi-final with eight goals so far, topping the Golden Boot leaderboard ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi based on assists as the tiebreaker. His presence on the pitch represents a significant advantage for France as they prepare for their toughest match yet in the competition.
Focus Shifts to Spain Encounter
France will concentrate fully on their World Cup semi-final against Spain, with both Mbappe and Tchouameni expected to be fit for selection. Their availability could prove decisive against a Spanish side known for controlling possession and dictating tempo.
