Mason Mount to Miss Manchester United vs Leeds at Croke Park

Manchester United’s smooth pre-season rhythm has taken a jolt, with Mason Mount expected to sit out Wednesday’s meeting with Leeds at Croke Park.

The midfielder has been one of United’s standout performers in their opening three warm-up fixtures, thriving in the number eight role. With new signing Andrey Santos anchoring just behind him, Mount has given Michael Carrick’s side energy, control and a sharper edge between the lines.

That progress stalled in Gothenburg.

Mount took a kick to the foot in the early stages of Saturday’s draw with Paris St-Germain and did not make it to half-time. Carrick moved quickly, withdrawing the 27-year-old in the first half and insisting the change was precautionary. Mount was later seen walking freely as he headed towards the team coach, a sight that initially eased fears of anything serious.

The concern has crept back.

Mount has not trained since the PSG game and is now expected to miss the Leeds encounter in Dublin. For Carrick, it means reshaping a midfield that had begun to show a clear structure, with Mount driving play from deep and linking with the front line.

United’s staff will now turn their attention to a tighter deadline: Saturday’s final pre-season outing against Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wroclaw. There is no clarity yet on whether Mount will be ready for that test, and with the competitive season looming, every missed session starts to matter.
