Manchester United have been handed their clearest signal yet that a move for Eduardo Camavinga is genuinely on.
The France international, long admired at Old Trafford, has been told by new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho that he does not sit at the heart of his plans for next season, according to Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin. For a player of Camavinga’s pedigree, that message lands hard. For United, it sounds like opportunity.
Mourinho’s blunt message
United’s interest is not new. Back in May, TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey revealed that the club had set their sights on Camavinga, with Real Madrid open to a sale after the midfielder’s omission from France’s 2026 World Cup squad. Talks with his representatives followed, even as Camavinga continued to carry the sheen of a player who has already won LaLiga and the Champions League twice in Madrid colours.

Valentin reported on X that Mourinho has laid out the reality in stark terms. Camavinga, he wrote, has been told he will “have a very tough time getting minutes.” Mourinho, according to the report, arrived at Valdebebas already convinced of this hierarchy and has not softened since. The club, Valentin adds, are now “looking for options for him to be transferred,” even as the player maintains, for the moment, that he does not want to leave.
Madrid’s stance hardens, United’s window opens
This is the first time the pieces have aligned so clearly. Madrid are no longer simply “open” to a sale; they are actively exploring one. Camavinga still clings to the idea of fighting for his place, but when a club of Madrid’s size decides to move someone on, the ending is rarely in doubt.
