Manchester United Negotiates Joshua Zirkzee Loan to Juventus

Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Juventus over a deal that could see Joshua Zirkzee leave Old Trafford on loan with an option to buy this summer.

The Italian giants have moved quickly for the Dutch forward after their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani collapsed, with The Sun reporting that Zirkzee has now become a priority target in Turin. His representatives are understood to have responded positively to Juventus’ proposal, clearing a significant hurdle in the talks.

United, for their part, appear ready to cut their losses. They are prepared to approve a loan move including a purchase option set at around £30 million, despite paying roughly £36.5 million to bring him to the club in 2024. Inside the club, there is a feeling that the fee reflects his current market value after an underwhelming spell in Manchester.

Zirkzee has drifted to the fringes of the squad. Across last season, under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick, he managed just five Premier League starts. For a 25-year-old once billed as a central piece of United’s attacking future, the slide has been stark.

Interest in the striker is strong this summer, but Juventus are believed to be at the front of the queue. The Old Lady had been closing in on Kolo Muani after his disappointing loan at Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain, only for negotiations with the French champions to stall over the financial terms. The deal hit a wall. Juventus turned their gaze elsewhere.

Zirkzee quickly emerged as the alternative. They need a new focal point up front, and the Dutchman fits the profile: technically gifted, comfortable linking play, and still young enough to grow into the role. His record at United, though, tells a more sobering story — just nine goals in 75 appearances.

A change of scenery now feels inevitable. Zirkzee is open to the move and the Allianz Stadium offers a familiar stage. Italian football is no unknown adventure for him; he previously spent a season on loan at Parma and two seasons with Bologna, experiences that should ease any adaptation concerns in Turin.

If Juventus can close this deal, they will not only solve their centre-forward problem but also hand Zirkzee a chance to relaunch a career that has stalled in England. For United, it would be a clean reset and a reminder that not every big investment becomes a cornerstone of the project.
