Manchester United have drawn a thick red line through the idea of selling Bruno Fernandes this summer. Not for the right price. Not for a “record bid”. Not at all.

The 31-year-old captain closed the 2025/26 season as the creative heartbeat of Michael Carrick’s side, driving United back into the Champions League with the kind of productivity that defines elite playmakers. Nine goals, 22 assists, 37 games. Those numbers only tell part of the story, but they explain why United have no interest in cashing in.
From deep-lying experiment to No.10 masterclass
The campaign began with uncertainty around his role. Under Ruben Amorim, Fernandes was asked to operate deeper in midfield for the first half of the season, tasked with knitting play from further back rather than living between the lines.
It never quite looked like his natural habitat.
Everything changed when Carrick took over. Fernandes was pushed back into his familiar No.10 position and the effect was immediate. He thrived. United’s attacks flowed through him again, the tempo rose, and the team’s forward line suddenly had a conductor.

Fernandes is not a short-term asset. He is under contract until the summer of 2027, with an option for a further year, and sources indicate he is ready to discuss an extension that would take him even deeper into his 30s at Old Trafford.
Inside the club, the view is clear. United see him as a long-term leader in the dressing room, a standard-setter whose creativity and personality shape the squad’s culture as much as its attack. The hierarchy believe his influence, on and off the pitch, has only grown over the past two seasons.
That is why, as reported, it would take a truly “mammoth” offer to even test United’s resolve. And even then, the stance is that the chances of him leaving are “very, very slim”.
Galatasaray interest meets a brick wall
The firmness of that position matters because interest has not been lacking. Galatasaray have been linked with an ambitious move, with journalist Suleyman Rodop outlining the Turkish champions’ admiration and the scale of the numbers involved.
Rodop claimed the asking price sits at €50 million, with Fernandes’s net annual salary expectation around €20 million. Galatasaray, he suggested, want to secure a No.10 and a striker before finalising other business on the wings.
On paper, it is a bold pitch. In reality, United’s response is simple: Bruno is not for sale.
There is no agitation from the player’s side either. TEAMtalk report that Fernandes is not pushing for a move and is instead open to talks over a new deal that would extend his stay beyond his current contract.
Carrick’s cornerstone for a title push
All of this feeds into Carrick’s plans. The United manager has made no secret internally of his delight at working with the Portugal international and expects him to be central again next season as the club steps back into the Champions League.
Carrick wants Fernandes as his on-field lieutenant, the creative hub in a team that aims not just to compete in Europe but to launch a sustained assault on the Premier League title.
United have made their choice. Their captain, their creator, their dressing-room reference point is staying put.
The question now is not who can prise Bruno Fernandes away from Old Trafford, but what he and Carrick can build together with a squad finally shaped around his strengths and a club demanding that those numbers – nine goals, 22 assists – become the foundation of something far bigger.
