Zakaria’s warning from experience
Zakaria knows Chelsea. He also knows the pitfalls. The Swiss international endured a difficult loan spell at Stamford Bridge, never fully trusted, never fully settled. So when the London club came calling for his midfield partner, he didn’t just stay quiet.

Zakaria praised Camara’s professionalism and suggested the failed move had steeled him rather than shaken him. “I know the player and the person that he is; he is very professional. I think that [the transfer saga] has given him even more strength. He was incredible today.”

“There was a possibility I could leave,” he said before a recent draw with Strasbourg. “It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football. I’ve turned the page and am focusing on the season. I can help the team a lot. Football moves fast. Maybe other opportunities will come along. But for now, I’m staying focused on the season with Monaco.”
That mindset suits Monaco perfectly. They sit at the summit of Ligue 1, their young core thriving, and Camara’s form is becoming one of the stories of the French season. Every composed touch and driving run, though, is also adding zeros to his price tag.
And the Premier League has not stopped watching.
Chelsea not done yet – but Liverpool enter the race
Chelsea’s need in that position has not gone away. Enzo Fernández has left, the midfield balance still feels incomplete, and Alonso’s rebuild remains a work in progress. According to transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio, the London club are preparing to return for Camara when the window reopens.
“Will Chelsea renew their interest in Camara? I think so because everything changed for Camara at the last minute,” Di Marzio said. “Chelsea needs a player in that position after Enzo left, so I think that in January, they will try again. Obviously, it’s difficult to say right now if something will be arranged or not. Chelsea will be coming back again.”
This time, though, they might not be alone at the negotiating table.
Liverpool have joined the list of admirers, Di Marzio claims, with the Merseyside club monitoring Camara’s situation as they weigh up the contract position of Alexis Mac Allister. Jürgen Klopp’s midfield has already undergone one major rebuild; another tweak could be coming as the club looks to protect itself against potential contract complications and maintain depth in the engine room.
For Liverpool, Camara represents energy, versatility, and a profile that fits their evolving style. For Chelsea, he is still the player earmarked to fill the void left by Enzo. For Monaco, he is suddenly a very valuable asset.
Monaco brace for a winter storm
All of that points to one thing: a fierce January battle.
Monaco know what is coming. With the team flying high at the top of Ligue 1 and Camara’s performances drawing attention across Europe, the club will brace for a barrage of offers when the window opens. Every decisive display between now and then strengthens their hand.
