Suárez’s century, Lewandowski’s rude awakening
On his 100th appearance for Inter Miami, Suárez played like a man determined to own the occasion. He buried a first-half penalty, then struck again after the interval to restore Miami’s lead at 2-1, underlining his enduring instinct in front of goal.
At the other end, Lewandowski’s first competitive outing in Chicago colours was a far rougher experience.

He never settled into the frantic rhythm, repeatedly cutting a frustrated figure as attacks broke down around him. If he had any illusions about how gentle his introduction to MLS might be, they vanished inside 15 minutes.
Chaos from the back, pressure from the front
An early back-pass from an Inter Miami defender to goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo, making just his second start of the season, should have been routine. It turned into a mess. Ríos Novo tried to clear his lines and succeeded only in slicing the ball into his own net, a calamitous own goal that handed Chicago an unexpected foothold.
The game lurched between control and chaos from there.
Suárez steadied Miami from the spot in the first half, then struck again after the break to tilt the contest their way. Chicago, though, refused to fold. They found an equaliser in the second half and, for a spell, looked the likelier side to grab a third, swarming forward and asking serious questions of a Miami defence rattled by that early error.
The pressure almost flipped the script. Almost.
Blampek settles it, table takes shape
With the match stretched and tired legs all over the pitch, the decisive moment fell to youth rather than experience. In the 85th minute, Preston Blampek pounced, firing in what proved to be the winner and dragging the game back under Miami’s control at the death.
Inter Miami’s 3-2 victory keeps them firmly in the Eastern Conference chase. They remain second on 34 points, while Chicago stay third on 26, left to wonder what more they could have taken from a night when the balance of play often leaned their way.
For Lewandowski, the wait now turns to 1 August for a first appearance in front of his new home crowd. Before that, he heads back on the road next Saturday for a trip to New York City, with the challenge clear: adapt to the faster, more chaotic demands of MLS, or be swallowed by them.
He is far from the only headline arrival reshaping the league. Antoine Griezmann has landed at Orlando City, and Inter Miami have added Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, confirmed on Wednesday. Big names keep coming. The question is who will bend this breathless league to their will, and who will be left chasing its pace.
