Barcelona now confronts uncertainty regarding Torres' future as his contract runs out within the next year. The club is actively pursuing a new centre-forward, showing strong interest in Julian Alvarez, who is seen as the potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The pursuit of Alvarez leaves Torres' position at Barcelona unclear. Last season, Torres had his best spell in Catalonia, netting 16 league goals in 33 appearances, despite starting only 23 matches.

Torres’ versatility across the front three and his contract situation make him an attractive target for Liverpool. Since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022, the 26-year-old forward has scored 65 goals in 201 appearances. Prior to that, he had impressive numbers in England as well, with 18 goals in 43 games for Manchester City over 18 months.
