Liverpool Tracks PSG's Ibrahim Mbaye Amid Bradley Barcola Negotiation Stalls
Liverpool has shown interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who is eager for more first-team opportunities and open to a move to Anfield. The 18-year-old is reportedly looking to leave PSG this summer to secure regular playing time.
According to GiveMeSport, PSG could demand at least €50 million for Mbaye, with prices possibly rising due to the inflated market. Though Liverpool has not made an official offer yet, Mbaye favors a Premier League switch and would welcome a formal approach from the club. However, Bayer Leverkusen is already in advanced talks directly with PSG, creating stiff competition for the winger's signature.
Bayer Leverkusen Leading the Chase
Bayer Leverkusen has progressed in negotiations following discussions between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leverkusen's Fernando Carro. Their good relationship strengthens the German club's position. Meanwhile, Mbaye faces growing competition at PSG, where he appeared 24 times last season in Ligue 1, scoring three goals but competing with Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola for minutes.
PSG is also bringing in new wide attackers, including Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche for around €50 million. After missing out on Yan Diomande, now bound for Real Madrid, PSG’s squad depth on the wings will limit Mbaye’s chances further.
Stalled Talks Over Bradley Barcola
Liverpool has not only targeted Mbaye but remains interested in another PSG winger, France international Bradley Barcola. Initial discussions between the clubs have taken place, with Liverpool reportedly willing to offer about €100 million. Barcola is keen on moving to Merseyside and personal terms are unlikely to be a problem.
The main hurdle is PSG’s hefty €170 million valuation, justified by Barcola’s strong World Cup showing—three goals and one assist—and his status as a two-time Champions League winner. PSG insists any sale must surpass recent top Premier League transfers like Elliot Anderson’s £116 million and Morgan Rogers’ £117 million deals.
Price Adjustments May Come
Barcola has only two years left on his contract and has declined to renew it, but PSG stands firm on the asking price. That might change as August progresses and PSG completes its recruitment of wide players. This could force the club to reconsider letting Barcola go at a lower fee.
Liverpool now faces a choice: make a formal offer for Mbaye or wait to see if PSG drops its price on Barcola before the transfer window closes.
