Liverpool's Pursuit of Bradley Barcola Gains Momentum
Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has moved into a new gear, with Paris Saint-Germain now prepared to soften their stance on the winger’s price tag, according to reports in France.
The Premier League side have been circling Barcola for weeks, seeing him as a major piece of their post-Mohamed Salah rebuild. They have already gone to work elsewhere in the squad: Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna to sharpen the attack, while centre-backs Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo have been brought in from Rennes and Barcelona to reinforce the back line.
But the search for a top-level wide forward has never really left the agenda.
From Diomande to Barcola
Liverpool initially chased Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, only to watch that move fade as the player leaned towards a switch to either PSG or Real Madrid. That setback forced a rethink.
Attention quickly turned to Barcola, whose status at the Parc des Princes has dipped under Luis Enrique. The France international has slipped down the pecking order in a stacked PSG attack, opening a narrow window of opportunity for the clubs watching him closely.
Liverpool stepped through it.
Talks with PSG have been ongoing for weeks, with early suggestions that the Ligue 1 champions wanted around £130m (€152m) for the 21-year-old. French outlet Jeunes Footeux now claims that stance has shifted slightly, describing what they call a “discount” on the original valuation.
According to their report, PSG had long set the minimum at €150m, but the club’s latest attacking signings have altered the picture. The Paris hierarchy are now said to be ready to listen to offers in the €130m–€140m range.
It is hardly a fire sale. It does, though, signal that PSG recognise both Barcola’s market value and the reality of their crowded forward line.
The same report stresses that PSG are under no pressure to sell and will not go any lower. Any “gesture” towards Liverpool, they insist, will not extend to a bargain.
‘Liverpool are confident’ – Romano
The sense of movement around the deal has been echoed by Fabrizio Romano, who delivered an upbeat update on his YouTube channel.
Romano highlighted that both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were not even on the bench for PSG, a decision that feeds the expectation that both players will leave. Luis Enrique already has a formidable attacking unit at his disposal: Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ferran Torres, Mika Goots and Maghnes Akliouche.
Six front-line options. Two notable absentees. The message is not subtle.
“The expectation is for both of them to go,” Romano said, outlining how the French champions have effectively prepared the ground for exits.
On Liverpool’s side, the mood sounds bullish. Romano stated that the Anfield club are negotiating directly with PSG and are “confident” over Barcola, adding that they are “pushing” to get the deal done.
Crucially, he reported that Liverpool already have a verbal agreement on personal terms with the player. With that hurdle cleared, the focus is now on finding common ground with PSG on the fee.
Romano expects the talks to “accelerate” and described the coming days as “crucial stages of the story”, with Liverpool keen to move quickly and close an agreement.
PSG, for their part, have made it clear they still value Barcola extremely highly. Liverpool know there will be no cut-price compromise. The question now is simple: do they believe this is the winger worth breaking the bank for as they reshape life after Salah?
